I am using the NeuN neuronal marker for IHC on mouse DRG cryosections. I am getting a signal from the whole cell body. I thought that NeuN should be only nuclear. Is this correct? Any suggestions?
The NeuN antibody I have used for years yields a strong staining around the nucleus, suggesting it may not not be completely restricted to the nucleus. This is very common in other publications I have seen as well. Are you seeing staining outside of the cell body, i.e. in neuronal processes, or is it mostly restricted to the cell body? If it is mostly in the cell body, your staining is probably ok.
