I am hoping to find connections with former psychologists and counselor who have worked with correctional populations, addictions, etc in hopes of learning from them about their experiences, any advice or anything else they could share. Much appreciation and love! Thank you in advance.
You may already have thought of this, but I'd recommend working through professional associations of such counselors. If you are a member or student affiliate, you should be able to access membership lists and/or elicit cooperation from the group's officers.
For example, the American Counseling Association has a division called the International Association of Addiction and Offender Counselors (https://www.iaaocounselors.org/ ).
I do some work with Bexar County Probation. they have two stationed active working psychologists. I will ask one of them to see if it is okay for you to contact them. If you don’t hear from me by end of next week, then they may be busy or do not want to participate.
