  • What type of health care system does your country have? (Socialized, private pay, employer based, etc.)
  • If you had to see a doctor today because you were ill, how would you go about it? (make an appointment, walk into a clinic, go to an ER, take a number at a medical clinic, etc.)
  • If you went to a doctor, or a hospital, who would be billed; who would pay for the services you receive? Do you have an option for payment plans or pay later?
  • Does everyone have access to health care services, or are there restrictions that make it difficult to access care? Are there differences in how health care services are delivered based on economics? If I am poor, will I be entitled to the same services as a person who is not poor?
  • How are elective procedures/surgeries handled? Who decides what is elective?  Does the health care system allow/pay for these, or does the individual?  Who decides if I can have an elective procedure?
  • What if I need to see a specialist? Do I need to do anything special?
  • Are there non-traditional approaches to health care services in your country – healers, voodoo doctors, religious rituals, etc.?
  • What are some of the things that you love about your health care system?  Why do you love those things? What do you dislike about your healthcare services?  Why?
  • What would you change if you could?
  • Is there a main governing body that oversees health services in your country (CDC, FDA, World Health Organization, etc.)?
  • Are dental, vision services included in your health services? If not, how would you be able to access this type of care?
