I am looking to do an experiment with early mouse ES cells, but we are not a mouse lab, yet. Would like to do it without spending $700-1200/vial of cells from a commercial supplier due to a tight budget and the fact that this is not a funded project (yet). Do labs that generate their own mouse ES cells share their cells or is it impolite to ask? Need w/t mouse ES cells, no fancy backgrounds. Any leads?

I don't have any leads of other labs for you, but I make mESCs in my lab from young, old, IVF, and cryopreserved embryos, grown on MEFs. I don't think sharing a vial or two would be a big deal, apart from the fact that I am based in the U.K. Though I have plans to send some samples to Metabolomics, North Carolina in September or so. So, if nothing works out, let me know! Maybe we can figure a way out, though I'm sure labs near you would be able to provide you with some mESCs. :)
