I have been reading about A53T aSyn genetic PD mouse model, and I realized that 99% of all of them, are based on the expression of human alpha-synuclein (wild type or mutant) in the mouse. I have found only one paper (Article Neuropathology in Mice Expressing Mouse Alpha-Synuclein

) were murine alpha-synuclein is overexpressed with very similar results in the neuropathology and locomotor activity as the human A53T overexpressing aSyn mouse model.

Why no one else overexpresses the murine aSyn in mouse, taking into account that the wild type form of mouse aSyn (53T) is the pathogenic form of human aSyn (A53T)?

I'm missing something obvious? I'm doing wrong my search?

Thank you for your help!
