what is the best practice to get precise and constant result while doing multivariate analysis?

As if it were the Brian Eno's Oblique Strategies: Be random! Choose the main factors. Check the distributions according the factors. A graph is worth a thousand data. Check the spatial and temporal autocorrelation. Check the multicollinearity among predictors. Check the false discovery rate. Try different modelling strategies and different hypothesis. Check the residuals. Be simple!
