Dear All,
I was analysing some MAAs (mycosporine amino acid like substance) samples. HPLC shows a single peak with RT 4 wavelength 333nm. so I thought it is a pure compounds. To know the mass of the sample when I did a LC-MS I got 28 compounds with majority of them RT 4. I don't have much idea about LC-MS and I will appreciate your suggestion and help how to decide which one might be the major compound in that sample. Is it from the volume % we can decide and select the mass.

The most intensive chromatographic curve belongs to the major component.
I think you have bad seperation of your compounds you need to reinject them and see sometimes due to bad seperation we'll get one big peak wich represents in reality several compounents
That could be an indicator of poor method validation, hence u have to re-adjust ur method parameters.
Another reason could be due to the solvents u use in the sample preparation, so u need to analyse the solvents without the active compound and examine its chromatogram
