Hello Everyone,
I am trying to model An integral Abutment bridges in Abaqus CAE, the bridge is fairly simple, a concrete deck resting on 10 Steel (I-Beam) girders. i am having a lot of problems regrading how to model the MPCs between the steel girders and the concrete deck.
The girders are modeled as Wire features while the deck is modeled as a Shell element.
My current approach to modeling them : is
1- Creating the parts
2- Meshing the parts
3- creating an orphan mesh for the parts previously meshed
4- then creating wire features between each node on the deck and the corresponding node on the girder
5- Assigning a connector section for the wire feature as a Beam-MPC.
The method works but it's extremely time consuming and since i have 10 girders and the span is 90 m it's very difficult to do not to mention that the bridge has a skew angle ?
i am wondering if there is differnt way ????
