Is there any mobile App publicly available on App stores (both IoS/Android) which can be used to gather/collect/analyze signal strength measurements from the available WLAN access points? My aim is to utilize these RSS reading for WLAN based indoor localization systems.

I have WiFiAnalyzer - an open source SSI application on my Android handset. I have only used it to check for overlapping/blocked channels on mostly a domestic environment, but today in our office it has detected about 13 active APs in the 2.4 band and five or six in the lower part of the 5GHz band (ch.36 - 64) and 4 more in the upper part (ch.100-144). Definitely I should be at 5 GHz - but in my home office that only works well in my home office close to the router.
Thank you all for your help and suggestions, what i intend to do is to gather a sample of RSS values that a mobile phone would receive from all available WLAN access points. Lets say every second the device revives a new beacon so I would need the RSS value of every beacon. It would be a series of signal strength values in dBm.

Sohaib Bin Altaf Khattak You can easily open the file in Word pad. I did some data preprocessing and made an Excel (.CSV format) file that shows all RSSI data in column-wise. I imported this CSV file into MATLAB and did my programming.

Kailiang Wang I had a similar problem with new smartphones like the Galaxy note 8. So I used old smartphones like LG g3, Samsung S6, and Redmi 4. What I understood is that recent smartphones have some difficulties with this app. I recommend you to use some old smartphones for data collection.
