What are some of the techniques used in identification and neutralization of micro drones? Micro drones could be military made or Commercial of the shelf drones used for military purposes. Thanks
Some israeli companies are using devices that work as frequency jammers,
Counter-drone TTPs are dependent on the drone system and are largely a function of range. If we're talking about micro-drones, I've seen Army units use countermeasures as simple as a shot gun. But with the constantly improving cameras, even micro-drones have sufficient stand-off to make shot guns ineffective.
Ukrainian units are using the Lithuanian made EDM4S-UA anti-drone jammer. It's a "point and shoot" directional EMP that disables small drones. Another promising piece of kit that I've seen recently is the L3 Harris Vampire which is being sent to Ukraine later this year.
Other surface to air systems like the SA-8 and the German made Gepard have been effective against the Iranian made Shahed 136. These two SA systems may also be effective at identifying Russian micro-drones but may not be cost effective.
