I am looking to complete a mixed methods synthesis which will combine the results from a systematic review which evaluates the predictive ability of certain determinants, and a meta-ethnography of qualitative studies which explores stakeholders perceptions of those factors. I would be interested in exploring various models available for such mixed synthesis. Thanks in advance for any guidance.
Qualitative and quantitative data will address different research questions, however those questions can be related. This relationship should guide your synthesis. For example, if you look at the number of people in a particular situation, and their perception of that situation, the first one can be addressed by a meta-analysis of quantitative works and the later by meta-ethnography of qualitative studies. These two cannot be mixed as a single piece of synthesis, but they can be presented as two related and complementing summaries of information.
