Dear all, in guidelines about adrenal incidentalomas ( doi.org/10.1530/EJE-16-0467 | doi.org/10.4158/EP.15.S1.1 | doi.org/10.1210/endrev/bnaa008 ), in case a pheochromocytoma is suspected it should be excluded "by measurement of plasma-free metanephrines or urinary fractionated metanephrines" before any surgical operation (both regarding the adrenal glands or others) to reduce patient's risks. I still haven't found a guideline if it's also necessary for short-term-scheduled (e.g. 1 day-1 week) surgical procedures, or anyway what should be the advised maximum turnaround time for metanephrines laboratory test (considering these tests usually don't come with short turnaround times by clinical laboratories). Can someone explain or suggest a possible approach or cite any guideline/opinion about the subject? Thank you!
