I would like to understand whether a specific frequency of light (in the visible spectrum) inactivates a viral species by oxidative process through ROS formation or by a conformational change of one or more constituent proteins. To do this, I thought I would incubate my viral inoculum in PBS with different types of antioxidants and expose everything to the light frequency for a predetermined time. After incubation with cell culture, I would compare the viral titer of the exposed sample with that of positive control (maintained under the same conditions as the treated sample). Could this be useful to exclude or confirm ROS-mediated oxidative damage during virus exposure to light? Is it physiologically feasible to incubate a viral inoculum with an antioxidant agent? Do you know of any scientific work in this area that could help me understand whether the experiment is experimentally correct? Thank you very much.
