Ideally Pure metals have sharp melting points. But there will be some variation in the melting of pure aluminum. I want to know the temperature transition zone half width for aluminum.
The melting temperature of any solid material will be a fixed one due to the thermodynamics. If there is a measured difference, then it must be related to differeent tempereatures in the melting object from radiation loss, conduction or possibly convection.
Anders Buen dear sir, i am simulating heat transfer in solids/fluids with phase change, hence COMSOL is asking phase transition zone between phase 1 to phase2. I am taking default value.
The total time width is assigned to have a value of 30K (933-/+15K) as in the following paper:
Sarraute Emmanuel et al. "Transient Thermal 2D FEM Analysis of SiC Mosfet in Short-Circuit Operation Including Solidus-Liquidus Phase Transition of the Aluminum Source Electrode." In 2023 24th International Conference on Thermal, Mechanical and Multi-Physics Simulation and Experiments in Microelectronics and Microsystems (EuroSimE), pp. 1-8. IEEE, 2023.
In fact, putting a very low value will make a very fast phase transition and may cause troubles in the calculus.
