John, I'd suggest you to check the MBI method (http://www.iegd.org/spanish800/adjuntos/distefano1.pdf), which is based on the validated research of Prof. J. DiStefano and Prof. M. Maznevski of IMD. The method has elements of research conducted by Prof. H. Ghorashi (Vrij University, Amsterdam) and Roosevelt R. Thomas. By following your own, personal variant of this model, you may be able to increase (and measure) your own effectiveness as well as that of your organization, you can increase your productivity and find innovative solutions, all within an intercultural context.
In my opinion, however, when measuring the impact of culture in international business we need to consider and understand the overall macroeconomic landscape of those markets (emerging and frontier, as well as advanced) in order to be able to realize the potential for strategic globalization. The work I'm attaching here demonstrates how one can, instead, leverage from the cultural diversity and create better, more competitive companies, better leaders, and hopefully a safer and more sustainable world.
