I am quoted the above statement from one of my publications about barriers to evidence based practice.
I think that we have "as researchers" to rethink about our publications to be more clinical focused.
Do you agree or disagree with the above statement and why?

I do agree Abdulkarim. However, it dependes on how do we put the recommendations so that they are easy to be placed in practice.
Hello Dr Abdulkarim, It is required to motivate nursing professionals to do more research relataded to their experiences in practice. Research in nursing should be develop more in methods, the process and protocols required for certain procedures in practice.
I tend to disagree with the above statement as fundamental research results can also lead to changes in the clinical practice. Research journals can be seen as more difficult to read though as they often require in-depth knowledge of the topics being studied and as they often require the ability to translate research results into changes in clinical practice.
I do think that nurses don't read research journals as a result of two things:
1. Their educational background
2. Non exposure to research journals
Entry-to-practice levels often vary in nursing, and not all equally stress the value of keeping one's practice up-to-date by regular readings (be them from research or clinical journals). Also, as previously mentioned, research journals can also require additional knowledge from readers, which can be difficult without a certain educational background.
I think that the main reason why nurses who do want to read to keep their practice up-to-date don't read research journals is that they are less exposed to them. As non-textbook readings in nursing school mostly come from clinical journals, nurses often go back to these journals first out of habit. Also, take a look at most hospital librairies: nursing journals are often scarce, and the vast majority of the ones available are not research ones. Reading research journals thus often requires an additional retrieval step, which is often not easily made as not all institutions provide access to online journals.
Fundamental research has its own purpose and should not be subdued by clinical research. Instead, ways to ease the transition "from bench-to-bedside" should be sought. A starting point to do so would be to address the two points I previously mentionned.
