I can find mahalnobis distance for my particular type of signal, say for vibration data of healthy structure and then compare the distance with the unhealthy ones to detect it.

So what are such kind of techniques to find difference between two different signal.

In case of mahalnobis distance calculation large amount of training set is needed.So is there any better algorithm to differentiate between two signals.
