I'm macrodissecting very small tumours (max 1 cm) using a scalpel and I'm using non-silanized glass slides. To extract the DNA I use a comercial kit with silica colums.

My question is: the silanization process uses some reagent that can be taken off by the scalpel and brought to downstream applications such as NGS (whole-exome)? Also, will it be better to use salinized glass to macrodissect?

I tested with non-silanized glass as I tought that because the tissue does not adhere very firmly to the glass it would be easier to scrape it off using the scalpel. But because we only have silanized glass slides in the lab, I tought about using them.
