Hi everyone!
As you know around the World we are suffering a new boom in e-LEE (e-learning educational enviroments). Perhasp, it is the way to say to the educational community that this kind of resources and services are crucial for improving educational contents and methodologies.
For this reason, in a big effort to make aware the educational community, I would like to establish a first point to talk about this important service LA (Learning Analytics).
Therefore, I would like to ask everyone to add here whatever course or tool who is related with Learning Analytics, as a first step to share with all kind of educational levels an aproach to involve who is interested in this service to take advantage of their benefits.
LA can be beautifully expressed in the LA Dashboards. There are many tools used for visualization, PowerBI is playing a pivotal role in this. Apart from Power BI, you can use Tableau, Qlikview and some other free tools available for this purpose.
This is an interesting point yet I am not convinced of the actual interest of LA specifically in this situation.
My opinion is based on a personal experience of benevolent teacher at the Red Cross. The population that was targeted was children from 6 to 10 (which are all in primary school in France) that had problem during quarantine.
It might be surprising but lot more people one might think aren't at all comfortable using a computer for basic tasks, this is true for teacher to some extent and more for parents of course.
Learning Analytic gives indicators that are supposed to reflect the activity of learning, there are many assumption in this basic definition. Assumption about the kind of device used for learning (which impact a lot the activity perceived by the teacher), the OS version, broadband access, parents ability to help student using computer...
Furthermore, the teachers aren't used to this practice and are struggling with much more "immediate" issues. Such as calling the parent if needed, preparing courses in media format as well as paper format.
There is also an ethical issue to trace behavior of student outside of the classroom. The quarantine create a particuliar time between "social life" and "private life", how to ensure boundaries?
