Why do we focus only on reducing the fossil fuel consumption (between 2020 and 2030)?
Where is the equivalent guaranteed energy production from other sources (between 2020 and 2030) - that is economic, social and environmental-friendly?
With the developing science and Technology, will it ever be feasible to curtail the per capita energy demand ALL over the globe in the next decade?
With ever increasing energy demand, can we dream about curtailing the use of existing fossil fuels - in the absence of finding a solid replacement that remains positive in all aspects?
Are we NOT going to use our cars running either with petrol or diesel from 2020?
It's NOT about liking or disliking 'fossil fuels' (and their so called associated consequences):
It's about meeting the ever-growing global energy demand dictated by us and NOT by the nature.
This is a very interesting topic! Before the recent drop in oil prices several years ago, I read an article in a trade magazine that predicted this would happen. When it did, I was very impressed and wished I had saved the article and author's name. The article said that the natural resource exporting countries (for example, Russia and Canada) had become dependent on a large influx of cash. Exploration and advances in extraction techniques naturally increased production from other parts of the world that were anxious to sell. Supply increased faster than demand, so the countries that were depending on money coming in, had to sell more for less to get the same cash flow. I also remember when diesel was much cheaper than gasoline. Refiners figured out they could jack the price of diesel up and the truckers would just pass the cost along to consumers. People, their reactions, motives, and constantly changing outcome makes for very interesting study, especially in the area of energy consumption. Expect new things on the horizon!
