Great question. Often, we grab simple answers that are not universally applicable. Health is a very complex sector with different challenges in different places.
I think the most urgent need is to design health systems that consider the components and interactions of the determinants of health to deliver quality care. This approach needs to integrate mature technologies from other sectors, including consultation, data collection and analysis, systems engineering, design and evaluation of options, and management of implementation. The result should be patients receiving high-quality care from clinicians with well-designed jobs and schedules at a sustainable cost and manageable environmental impacts.
