Chloroform is one of the more toxic chemicals- but not difficult to handle without getting exposed. Leave a petridish with chloroform ina desiccator and keep the desiccator in afume chamber. The exposure would be minimal if you can keep your agar plate in the desiccator to kill the bacteria!
