Green business investment bring lower profit but also, costs are lower. You need to have on your mind that green investments can also create damage of biodiversity. You will make a mistake if you focus yourself at the one their aspect versus other.
There are continuing debates about 'green business investment'. Our aim is to undertake research into the financing of young, small SMEs that are innovators in the greentech/cleantech field (some key sectors are energy, infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, bio-science, digitech). These are potential green innovation game changers, but often require large-scale, lengthy R&D patient capital not found from the private sector. We are particularly interested in circular economy thinking and that green tech (which can include reconfigurations of low tech) can improve efficiencies and lower carbon footprint, whilst also (on balance) not damaging the environment in other ways.
Green investment is a relatively ambiguous term. It can represent: a) orientation of already traditional companies to a more environmentally friendly operation; b) the creation of environmentally-oriented small businesses from the outset; and c) the mentality of financial groups to support environmentally friendly ventures.
Thanks Raja, the link you provide to the sectors and activities - ranging from green tech to clean tech - provides a reasonable basis, also the associated links with green investment which can include social impact investment. The focus of the research project, one day conferences/workshops (including that tomorrow 27/09/2019 at Birmingham City University) is on early stage innovative SMEs, since these are often perceived as too risky for the private sector to finance and are overlooked by government policy makers who are more interested in the kudos of large scale infrastructure projects! I welcome new research in this field and papers for our Special Issue on this subject in IEEE Transactions in Engineering Management (paper deadline 31/12/2020). : Article Implementation of Circular Economy Business Models by Small ...

Green business investment is one of the key factors in implementing the principles of sustainable development, pro-ecological reforms of implementing eco-innovations into economic processes, including the development of renewable energy sources, etc. For green business investments to be implemented dynamically, it is necessary to co-finance the implementation of these pro-ecological reforms from the funds of the state finance system. Green business investment is an important element of the pro-ecological transformation of the traditional brown economy to a sustainable green economy / circular economy. I described the issues of green business investment and other determinants of the pro-ecological transformation of the traditional brown economy to a sustainable green economy / circular economy in more detail in my publication, which I posted in August 2020 on the Research Gate portal. I invite you to research cooperation.
