I read two papers which uses Instantaneous SINR (ISINR) as criterion for performance evaluation. In the two papers below, it seems the desired signal (numerator) in ISINR does not involve transmit power; ISINR is directly written as {h^2 * d^{-\alpha}}, where h is channel coefficient and d is distance.

Can anyone explain what the definition of ISINR is? Thanks!
