Hi everyone.
I'm trying to implement a new analytical method based on treatment biological samples (plasma, serum and urine) prior to analysis by RPLC (ODS column) in order to quantify cephalosporins in plasma.
I have reviewed the extensive literature on this subject and I have found an author who employs a method based on two steps. One of them used isopropyl alcohol to precipitate proteins (Sample:Reagent- 1-5 Ratio).
Does Anybody have experience with this precipitating agent?.

Dear Sir. Concerning your issue about the use of isopropyl alcohol for deproteinization prior to RPLC analyis. The extraction or deproteinization methods can be carried out by isopropyl alcohol. It is very interesting but in the paper from Journal of chromatography B, isopropyl alcohol is only used as a reagent of the aqueous moble phase, not as a clean-up reagent. However it is very interesting work.

Most use commercially available protein precipitation plates now. google protein precipitation plates for vendor specific information - I know Waters and Phenomonex make them and probably others as well.

Thank you. Second article is really interesting and important for me. Acetone is an energical organic precipitant but when i´ve used it in my lab, peak broadening and lose of peak resolution appears. thx.
