High magnitude electric power is transferred to load without using any physical contact. For example, Fringing effect which gives leakage flux that will be cut by rotating coil an emf is generated. The distance between source and load is negligible (approximately less than 1 cm).
Even if the aforementioned wireless power transfer was Tesla's dream, the full implementation of this idea is still far from accomplishment. Nevertheless, various implementations exist and are under production in order to provide a full scale application which could be used for various systems.

Current state of the industry most of the WPT is based on mutual inductor coupling.
Based on the FCC standards its almost impossible to do a wireless power transfer unless we can have high frequency directional antennas that can transfer power at low frequency pulses.
