The literature that I have come across explores the improvements in helmet design, or bullet proof jacket design but I could not find anything pertaining to use of physics in diagnosis. In intimate partner violence there is research correlating brain injury among military personnel with PTSD and IPV. I haven't been interested enough in this area to explore whether they delved into type of head injury but you might find something.
