Dear Prof Kamal, thanks for your response.  Just to let you all have a (rather superficial) view of our Education Blueprint (Edu development plan, PPPM in Malay).

In our country, there is a high rate of unemployment, so if one gets a teaching job then s/he will cling to it despite the fact that the school teachers are underpaid. Since banning physical punishment at schools, the teaching job has become more exhausting due to increasing defiance of the young generation.

Honestly, if any teacher finds a better paid job, then resignation is instantaneous. But no one will resign in order to go to the dole because we do not have a welfare state.

Dear Prithvi, Dr Nizar and friends: it's the same here.  Govt school teachers are slightly better paid.  Just like in India:

'Teachers from high profile private schools in the city are now scouting for jobs in the government schools. With the state government likely to announce about 50,000 jobs in government schools soon, many teachers who have been teaching in international, CBSE and ICSE schools in the city are busy taking coaching at various District Selection Committee (DSC) coaching centres. In Italy, the situation is very similar to that described by prof. Kamal for Jordan. Expecially, teachers in public schools are are more jobs secured, whilst they in private Institutions may also be better paid, but they have a work situation more precarious. The only exceptions are reliogiuos Institutions which hve echonomic advantages of private and work stabilty of public ones.

Dear Miranda, Education in Jordan is generally good, either in public or in private schools.

Dear Prof Mahfuz and friends, how is it for the teachers?  Are they reasonably paid for the job they do?  And are the teachers a caring knowledgeable lot who instill good values?  When I was teaching in secondary school, I had classes of 45 students.  The primary schools have larger number of students, 48-50.  I had more holidays than now; 10 weeks a year but I spent 5 weeks of that time on managing the school assets.

It is not a common thing in my country that teachers change their public schools for private ones. Salaries at private institutes are likewise weak than in publics.

If a teacher is not satisfied with his/her income he usually try his luck in another profession like banking or hospitality.

By the current statistics, about 30% of people having degree az teachers they work not in their profession.  Moreover, half part of newly degreed teachers cannot find teaching job but in natural science teaching we should have so much more employees in schools than we have.

In India, so far as schools are concerned,  teachers still prefer to work in government (public) schools as the conditions of work are better for them in these schools.  They also do not have much accountability there. That is the reason that the state of these schools is bad. Private schools though deliver better results for the students, are thus preferred by parents, but are not able to provide good working conditions to teachers. They use command and control on the teachers rather than give them some freedom. The pay is not quite better in the private schools. At the most, it is the same. 

@Miranda, private schools in Italy are "officially recognized" as public ones. Therefore, both the hours and the programs of  ensign do not differ.

Dear @Miranda, it happens in my country Serbia. I have an impression that such process is very bad for the future of public education system. My daughter, high school professor shares the same opinion!

In Brazil public institutions pay a very small salary despite offering good quality education. Teachers in public institutions  are migrating to private institutions by offering better salaries

If a public school is reputed one - then teachers prefer to stay, on the other hand a good teacher will always try to shift job for a handsome salary; added to this students in a reputed school always are under good discipline and are the creamy/brainy scholars and that helps maintain a school reputation for long

If you have no any ties and money you will be poor in all structures, including educational field. Corruption rules supreme. Low salary, piles of sheets, disrespect to teacher's profession, absence of future perspectives and social guarantees are reasons for turnover.They are becoming cashiers, shop-assistants, shopwalkers, managers to survive. 

Dear Irina, that is sad.  Are you saying that teachers have to take another job as 'cashiers, shop-assistants, shopwalkers, managers to survive'?  Then how can they use some time to do research and improve education in their institution?  I only need to do 1 job, but I have to teach many students, I have no research grant.  I thought this is bad enough!

Private schools are relatively few in SA so are a choice for the very best!

Teaching including lecturing is considered more a vocation than a profession!

Dear Miranda, they change their teacher's work to earn money. One colleague became to a motorist. You see, it's impossible to combine teacher's profession with seller's one. It's unethical- to sell cucumbers and teach children. All of them have good pedagogical education, but they, mainly women, and very often single women must feed their own children.Surely, they can take money for private lessons, but it is not very ethical outcome, too. The pension is extremely low, that's why there are a lot of not very young teachers at public schools.One more way is to become a nurse of a child from a rich family.Who wants?I greatly appreciate Ljubomir and all the scientific world, highly intelligent personalities, who are against corruption.But vertical itself generates corruption. I think, it's a very comfortable system of mass' manipulation  for them."For their own nearest and dearest there is all, for other people there is a law"

Dear Miranda, I agree with you, teaching is vocation. The teachers, who love children and know their subjects are highly qualified, creative, moral. They can't change their profession and are going to work, notwithstanding of materialistic and social difficulties.They are real role models both for their students and for society, thanks to their humanistic values. 

@Miranda and @Irina, we are tuned to the same wavelength. I too have lessons in August when there is no official teaching in Italy. 

I do not like working summer classes, it is very hard! I do remember while I was in US, summer classes were paid 1.6 comparing to the regular semester classes! Even then when I was younger 32 years, I did not like it at all dear @Lerardi!

I like teaching and work with the different auditorium - from  younger up to adults. It doesn't matter what I have from the point of view of my income- it may be free. It's my work, it's my auditorium. They are human beings and God gives me the right to appreciate or motivate these human beings.I have no right to be irresponsible.Every teacher must give kindness, optimism, love to the auditorium. It's my credo.May be it's ridiculous for some people.
