For testing the pluropotency of iPSC, we derived embryoid bodies from human iPSC to identify the three germ layers in these embryoid bodies.
I have no problem to identify all three germ layers in these EBs. At the same time, I observed structures very similar to glomerulus. Although it seems reasonable to have glomerulus structure from mesonephros (intermediate mesoderm) during embryo development, it is rare to see glomerulus as a demonstration for mesoderm in paper.
Do you agree it is glomerulus structure? If not, what do you think?
These EB are around 5 weeks in culture, with HE staining. The link is:

I do not think those structures are glomeruli (even primitive). It is hard to talk about that complex thing as glomerulus in week 5.
Blood island in yolk sac, far away from intermediate mesoderm start to appear in week 3 and/or 4. Not to mention absence of other cell pops so typicall for glomerulus.
About the question about glomerulus as a part of mesonephric nephrons - mesonephros start to appear in week 6.

I do not suppose there are capillaries.
Easiest way, how to be sure is to do immunohistochemistry...
