What are the comparisons you want to make between these two? (Also how are you defining language learning versus vocabulary learning.)

Most importantly, what is your "why" or purpose? What's the problem you're trying to solve, situation you're trying to improve, or question you're trying to answer through comparing these two things?

This topic seems to be very broad because there are many techniques out there and collecting empirical data about them all may be challenging. Please consider how you would collect data and whether it would be feasible for you.

You can conduct interviews - be they individual or focused - with a group/ or groups of learners in which you ask them about their techniques regarding language learning and vocabulary learning. In this case your study will be a qualitative one. After you collect your data, you can then analyze it thematically. Please consult the following:
