I have tried to perform an plate subjected to impact load in ABAQUS, after impacting the plate have a permanent deflection, while the plate was still oscillating. So how can I reduce the oscillation of test plate in ABAQUS?
Applying a damping to your model would be a necessary part of modeling if you don't consider it yet. I would recommend you start from defining a proportional damping of your model.
I have considered the Rayleigh damping by applying lowest natural frequency value for mass proportional (alpha) and keep the stiffness proportional damping (beta) equal to zero, but the reduction of displacement result is significant, it is around 10% which may not be accepted. Could you suggest me how we can assume the reasonable damping ratio for analysis? Thank you in advance.
