Samantha Curle Thankyou for your answer. I have read Morgan's brilliant work on organizational metaphors. He describes a variety of metaphors to view organizations but don't provide a framework of their classification. However, the Akin and Palmer's paper that you shared might be helpful as they distinguish between etic and emic approaches of studying social systems. This might provide one axis of the framework I am trying to build.
