A cell type is very scarce while isolated out and hard to expand in vitro. I ask here if there is any technique to expand one set of cell chromosome in vivo, or in vitro or ex vitro.
I am not sure in animals. In plants, chemical colchicine can be used for chromosome doubling. For example, haploid cells (ex. developed from anther/pollen culture) can be induced into double-hapolid (DH) line (2N=2x) through chromosome-doubling agents. DH lines are important sources for plant breeding-- to produce instant homozygous plant lines. The chromosome sets are doubled from 1x to 2x. But, I have not heard of any technique that can turn 1x chromosome set into 10x, then 20x or even 100x......

Can precision 3-D printing achieve it (using DNA building material) in the future??
Now, 3-D printing can print human body parts (see attached link). Maybe one day they can print tiny molecules such as chromosomes.

I know only cytogenetic techniques: culture of cells in medium containing phytohemagglutinin followed by the addition of colchicine. But they allow only the doubling of the amount of DNA in each chromosome.
I remember that in the past TSA (Trichostatin A) had been used to reversibly block cells in G2 and skip mitosis, ultimately obtaining doubling of chromosome sets.
