If not then how hypothetically or in theory MItochondrial Exchange between organisms that are taxonomically separated as far as kingdoms will go in terms of their physiological and biochemical interactions?
Say we transfer a mitochondrion from a fungal cell/plant cell to a Mamillian cell line will it still be functional in the new cytoplasm? How the different host cells interact with it?

Mitochondria physically and functionally interact with other organelles such as the endoplasmic reticulum and endosomes. These interactions involve the release of mitochondrial components within extracellular vesicles as part of a larger array of transport mechanisms that shuttle ions and metabolites across cytoplasmic organelles. The intercellular mitochondrial transfer between organisms that are taxonomically separated as far as kingdoms may disrupt proper mitochondrial interaction which is vital for the proper functioning of lysosomes. Zacharski thanks for your answer, can you answer another question for me! say if the mitochondria that are transferred from mammalian cells to the fungal cells and vice versa successfully integrate. What will be the changes that one can see in these cells post successful mitochondrion transfer and integration!?
