Hi. In XRD, the reduction of GO to rGO can be explained with the 2theta peak shifting and interlayer (d-spacing) values. Do we also need to explain the height /intensity of peaks, if there is some difference in heights of peaks at same 2theta value?

Yeah the decrease in height can also be explained in terms of increase in amorphization as well as increase in strain in lattice. This will affect your crystallite size.
Shifting of the XRD peak position is mainly due to the composition change that occurs due to the substitutions of external elements in the main matrix, or the change in the composition itself. The intensity variation occurs due to the preferred orientation. If you really want to discuss the role of height/intensity due the sample effect, its important to make XRD on the powder sample, with sample holder rotation with 10 15 rotation/minute speed while taking xrd. Also, you have to take slow scan as fast scan also make the lower intensity. The most important point is that both different cases almost other parameters such as rotation speed, slow scan speed, and the filter like Nickel if you use need to be remain same. Else you can conclude the wrong reason while discussing the intensity variation. Be careful, the xrd peak due to rGO or carbon appear at lower angle, I guess, lower than 20 degree, so low angle scan need to be taken carefully. Good luck

The intensity of the XRD peaks represents the phase formation. The lower peak or curved peak denotes the amorphous nature of the substance.
