Domestic violence during pregnancy is a serious public health issue with significant negative health consequences for women. Psychological stress may lead to pregnancy complications including preeclampsia or preterm labor. What is you opinion?
According to the studies, both DV and preechlampsia cause preterm labor.I think economic violence that is one of the types of DV can effect on nutrition status of pregnants and lack of vitamin D causes preechlampsia. So there is a indirect relationship between preechlampsia and DV.
Preeclampsia is associated with elevated levels of amino acids and serotonin in the blood samples of the pregnant women. If blood VitD levels of these women are also low it does not necessarily correlate the lack of VitD with the formation of preeclampsia.
I believe domestic violence can cause increased stress in the mother which may in turn potentiate excessive inflammation of the placenta. Perhaps, this inflammatory response can contribute to the pathogenesis of the immunological but not canonical preeclampsia. Anyone else have an opinion on this?
It may cause anxiety or depression but preeclampsia is a clinical disorder and there is no scientific or genetic association between domestic violence and preeclampsia.
