I obtained predominant frequency values from microtremor observations, now I would like to calculated soil thickness. Could anyone suggest me what is the exact relation to find the soil thickness?
This may be a difficult question to answer for a stratified soil deposit. However, if the soil is assumed to be uniform then the soil thickness can be computed from
H = (1/4/f1)*sqrt(G/ρ)
where G and ρ are shear modulus and soil density
f1 = predominant frequency if it is assumed that it corresponds to the fundamental natural frequency of vibration of the soil layer.
