The toxicity of organic dyes like Congo Red, Methyl orange, Eosin yellow, Malachite green is well known to scientific community and hence several treatment techniques like adsorption , chemical coagulation, photochemical oxidation etc are used frequently for effective removal of toxic dyes from aqueous solution.
Is there any permissible limit prescribed by WHO, US EPA or any other statutory body for toxic dyes for discharge in inland surface water bodies?

Thank you Sir for your help. I have gone through the attached materials where I could find that there are some guidelines for effluent releasing from textile or other industries where dyes are being used. The considered parameters are pH, TSS, BOD, COD etc, but no where maximum permissible concentration of dyes are there. Like heavy metals where clear permissible limit is prescribed, but for dyes why it is prescribed directly?
