Particle Repositioning Manoeuvre, as John Epley named it in 1992 , takes the particles back to the utricle from where it had gone into the posterior semicircular canal causing vertigo. The drugs helps to suppress the symptoms, not the disease. When all the particles goes back, then there won't be any symptom of vertigo. Then what is the need for drugs ?
In BPPV,John Epley first called it CRP or canalith repositioning procedure. It was also called particle repositioning manouevre
No drugs after CRP. If the patient still complain about dizziness, the lateral canal from the same side is certainly also involved
I think there is no need of antivertigo drugs after Epley manoeuvre, the aim of the procedure is to repositioned the otolith back. If done properly patient should be better. Sorry for the late response
I think drugs should not be used after the Epley maneuver.
But, it will depend on the origin of the BPPV and the number of maneuvers.
If you are a patient with Residual dizziness, BPPV after a concussion, associated with a patient who has Neuritis or a psychiatric condition, it could be of help.
