i was culturing unknown fungus for identification. unfortunately, i can't see the conidia. i suspected the fungus was botryospheria sp. does anybody know what is the appropiate way for the conidia to appear?
Life for fungi in nature is much harder than inside a Petri dish with a rich medium. When they grow on rich media they often tend to produce vegetative hyphae, and little or no sporulation. You can try to simulate natural conditions by growing the fungus on a poor medium, for example water agar with pieces of sterilized plant material (e.g. Pinus needles, or twigs or leaves of the plant from which you isolated the organism). Normally sporulation is enhanced with this simple technique.
Very well explained by Hugo Madrid. The culture resembles species of Botryosphaeriaceae. You can also check some of my articles for more details about identification. Good luck!
