Is there any interconnection of syntax, lexical items and cognitive linguistics that a student has acquired with his/her translation product quality?

I am exploring the interconnection of syntax, lexical items and cognitive linguistics that some ESL students have acquired comparing to their translation product. Is there any good methods/measurements in measuring the correctness of using lexical items while students are translating a text from English to their native language?
