I require an explanation of interference, especially lexical interference. It is in relation to language contact or ethnicity, not SLA. What is interference actually about? Is it the same as lexical borrowing or code mixing? And what are the reasons? I am confused about the concept.
no I dnt think that it has a straight link with SLA, but most of the time it is due to lge contact, bilingualism and codeswitching. Have a look at Weinreich's Languages in contact to have a broad idea about it. bye.
I think interference goes beyond code switching and bilingualism. Sure it is an outcome of languages in contact. Here, features of Language A are used or reflected while speaking Language B. Such interference may be phonological, lexical, pragmatic, syntactic, etc...
