I know that MDA-MB231BR cell line selectively metastasize to brain but is there any other established breast cancer cell line that metastasize either only to lung or lymph node or brain? We are trying to develop microfluidic tools to phenotype these cell lines. Thanks in advance!
Unlike MDA-MB231BR which undergoes brain metastasis, 4T1 cancer cells show the invasion and metastasis to the lymph nodes and the lungs after orthotopic transplantation into the mammary glands in vivo.

To investigate the role of CD44v in cancer metastasis, we studied the mouse breast cancer cell line 4T1 and its isogenic sublines (4T07, 168FARN, 67NR). All of these cells form primary tumours in mice, but only 4T1 cells give rise to visible lung metastases. The expression of CD44 variant isoform but not CD44 standard isoform seems to make a difference.
Thank you very much Go. Appreciate your response. I will read the article. I am particularly interested into the breast cancer cell lines that metastasize into particular distant organs. I found three cell lines that metastasize into brain, bone and lung. MDA-MB231BR metastasize to brain, 1833 metastasize to bone and 4175 metastasize to lung only. Although I found them in literature I don't know how to get these cell lines. I emailed the authors but they are not responding.
That group of Joan Massage has published the specific metastasis caused by 1833 and 4175 cells. Maybe you can write them. Angels Fabra also had a MDA 468 PM1 cell line and this cell line leads only to lung metastasis. Good luck!
