When we study mixed-method research design, sequential design is an important part of this. I have studied many books and online sources, researchers used mainly two types of nomenclature for explanatory types of mixed-method research. In some sources, I found Sequential Explanatory Research; in others, I found Explanatory Sequential Research. So I want to know through experts if both are the same things or not.
They are exactly the same thing, as summarized by QUAN --> qual. If you want a citation, Creswell and Plano-Clarke refers to it as an Explanatory Sequential Design.

Both are the same thing; however, it seems that the phrase "sequential explanatory" is more common than "explanatory sequential" as evidenced by Google Scholar search (see attachments).

"Sequential Explanatory Research" and "Explanatory Sequential Research" mean the same thing. They both talk about a way of doing research where you first look at words and stories (qualitative) and then you look at numbers and statistics (quantitative) to understand a question better. The words might be different, but how you do it is the same.
