I have observed that antimicrobial potential of wood is high when the pH is more acidic and density is higher. I didn't found any specific scientific article addressing this topic.
It's not convincing to me there is a direct link between pH and wood density. pH is affected by extractives from wood. I recommend you to investigate the chemical components and contents of extractives of the species.
Thank you for pointing out this important aspect. I have determined the extractive content of wood as well, the phenolic content is not correlated with pH or density of wood. So, there is some other thing playing role. Needs more literature arguments.
You are right about MC and durability but it is not always true, it is something related with presence extractives and solid wood matter as well. The research is needed to explain this relation. Hope you can present some interesting findings.
