Cyanobacteria are an ancient group of photosynthetic organisms from different habitats and particularly marine cyanobacteria, are a great resource of bio-active secondary metabolites. These secondary metabolites primarily involved in the adaptation of the Cyanobacteria. These secondary metabolites also show many biological activities, such as antimicrobial, anti-tumor, enzyme inhibition, anti-inflammatory, and other biological activities. But is there any commercialised drug from Cyanobacteria ( other than antioxidants e.g. Phycocyanin)?
