C3 glomerulopathy is a disease that includes DDD and C3 glomerulonephritis. Genetic
testing may be valuable to diagnose C3 glomerulopathy associated with alternative pathway activation. Patients with C3 glomerulonephritis may have a more benign course than patients with DDD.
If you see laboratory findings of complement activation, eculizumab may be a treatment option.
Eculizumab is an monoclonal antibody againts C5-complement, which is effective for atypical haemolytic uremic syndrome.
