It is not always easy to obtain sufficient material, with similar properties, to be able to accurately design and/or predict the behaviour of the produced concrete.
AT present No standard procedure for extraction of steel fibres from scrap tires. Shredding of a tire along the direction of steel fibres may possible by using U type groove.
I have one more question, have you analyzed how different are the properties of the steel fibers recovered? that is, is there any previous work done in their characterization?
Mechanical properties of steel fibres will almost same. However, based on type of steel wires used, their diameters , grade of steel, their properties may vary.
In case of Nylon fibres, properties may get affect during process of manufacture of tires, temperature etc. It will require more research.
There is no particular procedure for extraction of steel fibres from scrap tires besides they can be availed from a vulcanization rubber plant where the crumb rubber is divided into various components for recycling
