The Centre for Multilevel Modelling at the University of Bristol has been working on a large scale project funded by the ESRC and led by Bill Browne for some time to provide interoperability between statistics software. Called Stat-JR it allows you to specify a model in a common interface and then to produce syntax in other packages, run these and then bring the results back into the common interface. When other packages are unable to estimate the models it has its own MCMC calibration engine. You of course have to have the other software on your local machine. The software also has capacity to author electronic books and there is now one available for missing data and you can write your own.

To be clear this is not simply exchanging data (like Stat Transfer) but interoperability of analysis. Details can be found at
