You have certainly broached up a very interesting issue. In conducting research on tweets, you need to delimit the large number of messages published on specific topics on a daily basis;  you need to choose the ones that are relevant to your topic.As such, you should select a linguistic and/or psychological model in order to sensitize your targeted messages to the model hence reducing the bulk of  irrelevant information by increasing the search functionality. In other words, by tacking the problem based on a given  linguistic aspect such as a particular part-of-speech, syntactic and semantic information, you can decide on language  processing techniques for analyzing the informal style used in the writing of Twitter messages. If you want to analyze tweets psychologically, you can  determine which psychological aspects you want to study then collect the tweets on that topic and analyze them quantitatively. If you want to study tweets linguistically, you can collect samples of tweets and make stylistic analysis to them .
